[X4U] problem with printing

You can also use a browser to go to the current IP address of the printer and assign it a manual address with a high IP to it that won't be used by your DHCP. I generally use 192.168.1.253. Most routers don't use the whole scope for DHCP either, so this shouldn't be a problem... and some routers use 254 as their address, so I use 253 just in case.

Newer HP printers use BonJour networking and therefore don't need this workaround for Macs, but I'm usually dealing with Windows and an assigned IP is easier. If I remember correctly though, the 2100 is too old for BonJour.

Good luck.

But next time I turn it on the printer might be 192.168.1.7. So I have to add that as if it were a new printer. Right now I have printers with 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 14, and 15 as the last digit. All the same printer with latest drivers.
