[X4U] iPhone vs Android for Mac users, and iPhone 5 soon?

I have been using an iPhone for about 4 months. ATT version. I've had great experiences with the phone both in terms of throughput and dropped calls. Not one of my friends that has an Android phone likes it very well. I don't think the user experience is anything like the quality of the iPhone. :)

I started out with the 250 meg plan and upgraded to the 2 gig plan. YMV

I live in an area of Kansas where there isn't much for GSM based providers, but I do have good coverage from Verizon and a couple of regional providers. If I stick with Verizon I can get the iPhone, but it'd cost me roughly $100-110 per month for the plan I want, or if I can settle for an Android based smartphone, I can save about $35 a month or so with the regional carriers that work good for where I live and travel. All of the plans I've looked at and the prices I'm quoting include tethering/mobile wifi hotspot - so either way, if I happen to have my iPad or MacBook, they can get onto the Internet through my smartphone too. Of course, for convenience, I often only have room/need for just the smartphone.
