This doesn't appear to be a stand alone NAS setup. One major piece of info I should have mentioned in my first post, I am trying to create a fairly simple, reliable workflow file server, that I can train non-tech people to get us back up and running, even if I'm out of town. That's why I've been leaning away from a Mac server towards a stand-alone NAS appliance (plus an annoying permissions problem on the Mac server ever since we started running Leopard clients or newer). I've been reading about the Netgear's ReadyNAS replicate option. That sounds like I could buy two of their NAS, locate one at the office for everyday production, and the 2nd one at a home office, and I could take care of backup and offsite backup all at the same time.
