I can't tell from this picture, but can you get to the innards of the 
latch when it is naked like in the picture? The latch on mine has been 
non-functioning since the iBook took a dive from the car seat to the 
floor of the car during an unexpected hard brake. The top part of the 
latch hangs down, as it is supposed to when closing, but the bottom 
part has gone somewhere it isn't supposed to be and the hook has 
nothing to  grab. If I thought I  might be able to right things by 
going inside.... What could you see of the latch when you had yours 
naked?
