"a" key won't work.

Kids home from college today. Installed Panther on daughter's 14 in 
iBook 600. Updated to 10.3.1. Then find the "a" key doesn't work. Just 
the small a. Shift-A works fine. Command-A works fine. Reset power 
manager with battery out. Ran DiskWarrior, TechTool Deluxe. Zapped pram 
for 5 chimes. Repaired permissions. Plugged in a USB keyboard, it acts 
the same way. This is so stupid. Next, I'll try to reinstall the 
software. Any ideas? Please email me.
