[iTunes] Where is iTunes stored?

that may be true. What you could do is go to the Advanced option in
the menu bar and go to Consolidate Library. That option will copy all
the music and organize it in the iTunes folder in /Users/Music (or
another location of your choice, or whatever's in the Library location
option in the Advanced pane of iTunes preferences) and change the
locations of all the songs in the iTunes Music Library XML file so
they'll point to the one inside the iTunes folder instead of, for
example, an MP3 file on your Desktop.

If you need to back anything up, you'll want to grab the entire iTunes
folder after it has all of your music in it.

Default is usually ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music

It's located in ~/Music/ in those files, it might also be in a folder
called "Previous iTunes Libraries" and sometimes there are temp files
to go along with that.
Those files also hold location and info about each file in your library.
