OK, case well made. The ASCII is apparently no longer a viable scheme.
But I still maintain my original charge, that the archive should not include
our email address on public pages, it's simply inethical and I wish it would
stop even though it's too late.

Whether or not the spam is originating from these archive pages will be more
obvious in the future, as more search engines index the pages.
