You won't have to format and reinstall, you can install Mac OS 9 on your system disk without disrupting your Mac OS X installation. Did you buy your cube used? If you own a cube, you have a license for Mac OS 9 and should have it with your installation CD sets. Contact me off-list if you're sure you don't have it (at cactus at babayaga.org , not the From address of this message) and I'll gladly mail you one of my Cube install CD sets (since I have 5 cubes, I think I can spare a set...).
