Yo - I'm back and it feels great. Finally, no more sluggish response when typing in BBEdit (gee, a text editor requires a 1Ghz CPU these days). Thanks, Sean. System Profiler reports 1GHz and 2MB L3 Cache without installing any software. Cool! Downsides: I'm perceiving the fan as quite noisy. There is a notable difference to running without a fan, but I'm known for being quite thin-skinned when it comes to noise. It's okay, though, as a tradeoff for a fast machine. Plus i have lost the ability to wake from sleep (running 10.2.4). I have expecting this, though, and don't feel too disappointed. When i was about to put away the Apple processor board i removed from the Cube, a small black thingy with 2 contacts fell out of it. Wondering where it came from, I removed the processor heat sink and saw 5 different places where it could fit (a couple of other of those black thingies are on the board). Not knowing where it belongs (and not feeling in the mood for soldering) it looks like i'm not going to be able to switch back to the old processor board. Alright, now to some serious number crunching... Cheers, Oliver Sean Terrill wrote: > Quoth Oliver Köll (ok at quimby.de) at 2/21/03 9:24: > >> I'm utterly confused.
