Brightens-control

Hi Cube List,

My brightens-control has disappeared!
When I open System-Preferences/Screen the there are no scale fore 
brightness at he bottom of the page as b4 and when I touch the 
brightness button on my screen it lights up but noting more is 
happening. It used to open the System-Preferences/Screen page.

I have a Cube G4 450, ATI Rage128Pro/16MB, 1GB Ram, 80GB Seagate 
Barracuda with a 17" Apple Studio Display. (LCD)

Any Ideas?
