[CUBE] OSX update failed

In terminal, cd /private/tmp/501
If ls -al doesn't show you as the owner of TemporaryItems, with 
permissions of drwxr-xr-x, it is time for you to repair permissions.

If it does, I'd try the download again.
If it still doesn't work, download the updater directly and run it.
