According to Motorola's specs, the power consumption for the 7410 (stock) at 500 MHz is 5 W average/11 W peak, 33/47 W for a 7455 at 1 GHz, and 18/25 W for a 7457 at 1.27 GHz. So even a 1.5 GHz 7457 probably wouldn't dissipate as much power as your current 1 GHz processor.
