According to the free program "MacTracker", your cube requires a  
firmware update to "PowerMac G4 Cube Firmware Update 4.1.9" Run the  
updater program and your problem may be solved.

You may be able to find it in a folder on the OS-9 install CD.  
Otherwise, go to the Apple web site to download it.
