In light of recent OS 8.6 discussions I am inspired to return to a dormant project. What I have: a PowerMac 6100/66 running OS 8.6 with 40 mb of RAM and a 500 mb hard drive with only 28 mb of space left. It has Netscape, Internet Explorer, and Outlook Express and is currently hooked up to an Earthlink DSL modem. a PowerMac 7200/90 running OS 8.5.1 with (32+32+8+8=) 80 mb of RAM and a 500 mb hard drive. No Internet Explorer, no Outlook Express just AOL :( a PowerMac 7200/75 running OS 7.6.1 with (16+16=) 32 mb of RAM and a 500 mb hard drive. There is IE (version 4.5). a Duo 2300c running OS 8.1 with 40 mb of ram and a 500 mb hard drive. It has Netscape and Eudora. Also 5 DuoDocks, two with the tick of death, two with hard drives in them. A Minidock. Seven dead batteries. What I did: I pulled the two 16 mb RAM chips out of the 7200/75 and replaced the 8 mb chips in the 7200/90 to boost the total to 96 mb of RAM. I then pulled the hard drive out and with a jumper from and old 250 mb hard drive and I configured it as a slave (or tried to anyway) to the /90 hard drive and put it in the 7200/90. There are now three icons in my startup disk folder. The "MAC" icon launches OS 8.5.1. The "Macintosh HD" icon (the added hard drive) launches OS 7.6.1. The "RAM Disk" icon also launches 7.6.1. What I would like to have: The 7200/90 and the Duo 2300c both running OS 8.6 with Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. I have tranceivers and an ethernet crossover cable but have yet to try connecting two computers together. Can I get there from here? Any comments or suggestions will be gratefully and humbly appreciated. > ---------- > Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! > A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables. > FAQ at <http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/DuoListFAQ.shtml> > Be sure to visit Mac2400! <http://www.sineware.com/mac2400> > > To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <DuoList-off at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to > <DuoList-digest at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > Need help from a real person?
