As far as I can tell, the upgrade (from Apple) included the case bottom. Here's a quote from the manual: The PowerBook Duo 2300 upgrade kit upgrades a PowerBook Duo 210, 230, 250, 270c, 280, or 280c to a PowerBook Duo 2300c logic board. This upgrade, which uses a PowerPC 603e microprocessor, includes a PowerBook Duo 2300c case bottom/logic board/CPU stiffener assembly. It also includes a power adapter, PowerPC name plate, Macintosh PowerBook 2300 Series system software, and miscellaneous parts (end and center clutch covers and display screw covers). A trackpad is not included in this upgrade.
