Peter,
I am pleased to hear that your problem has disappeared. As to backup
solutions - you will certainly need to buy some sort of dock (DuoDock,
MiniDock, SCSI MicroDock). External HD cartridge drives are a very
convenient solution, especially because of their speed which makes possible
the creation of a bootable disk (with eg. Norton on it) for repair and
rescue purposes. Since Syquest went down the drain there is only Iomega in
the market now for such devices - reasonably priced 1Gig Jaz drives (I would
not recommend the slow and rather unreliable ZIPs) are abundant on ebay..
But Jaz-cartridges are expensive and do not last all too long. The cheapest
solution would be a DAT-drive (also abundant on ebay). With a software such
as Optima DeskTape you can mount and handle a DAT-drive just like a HD.
