Another option available if you don't own a Disk Warrior or Tech Tools disk, is the shareware program DataRescue which has saved me a lot of sweat in the past. You can try it out and see if your data is recoverable by the program, although you can't save until registering ($29 ?) with Kagi. You will need a disk with enough room to transfer whatever you had on the firewire drive, and you might loose some icons which may be a reason to use a recovery disk. On the plus side, you may be able to sleep better knowing your data is intact while waiting for a disk. It also will recognize unmounted volumes if I remember correctly. Frank --
