[G4] 970 -- good for Powerbooks?

it will probably be a revision or two of the 970 before they have a 
chip suitable for a laptop. this way they make sure they can run it 
cool enough, and more importantly, keep the power consumption as low as 
possible.

keep the dual 1.4 gHz for now ;)  in my mind it is a better case setup 
(though the new MB and processor are much much quicker)  you have the 
ability to add more that 2 optical drives, more than 2 harddrives. not 
to mention the fact that you have a tried and true system (who knows 
what errata the new G5s might hold in store)

anyway, back to the point, i believe it will be january at the earliest 
before we see a 970 in a powerbook. that being said, moto just 
announced a new revision of the G4, so we could probably have 1.4 gHz 
G4s in the not too distant future. (not to mention a plethora of 
upgrade options for the "old" G4s)
