There are some who think that the Chime is an annoyance... To that end... There are utilities on VersionTracker... And SourceFourge that perform the task of turning the chime on and off... Check http://www.versiontracker.com or http://www.sourceforge.net It's easier to find things in VersionTracker... most of what's in SourceForge also makes it's way into VersionTracker.
