Anne, It sounds similar to a problem I had with a Zip disk. I couldn't eject the disk because "it was in use". A simple reboot wouldn't help. Finally I rebooted into one of my other systems (OSX instead of 9.2) and the problem cleared up. Try another system or reboot using your CD.
