[G4] CD try problem , etc.

Before your Cd drive tray opens does the drive make noise of some sort 
(Like it is trying to read a Disk) before opening? MY DVD-RAm drive in 
my G4 500 (AGP) sometimes does this. Occasionally I will put a disk in 
and after some churning it spits it out, eventually it will read and 
the CD will come up in the finder. My drive does a cd eject on certain 
cd's but it does not happen all the time.

Can you get any of the CD's or DVD's that you put in the drive to mount 
to the desktop or finder?

The drive is probably going bad or is already bad. You can try a CD/dvd 
  lens cleaner that might help if it is dirt/ dust causing the drives 
problems.
