I installed an ATA drive in the bay beneath the CD ROM on my 450 DP. It was a simple, plug 'n play install, except for needing to remove a few snap-in pieces of metal shroud to make room, and the need to attach cables before slotting in the new drive. Mounting screws don't really line up, so I left mine loose, which isn't really a problem as the case doesn't get moved very much. There is a little periodic hum from sympathetic vibration, but pretty minor. Drive was set for cable select, showed up instantly, and can be used as a boot volume. Jose is absolutely correct, except that you can install ATA, IDE drives in the SCSI bay location, however you need to get a PCI card and the IDE cables that will connect the newly installed disk to the internal connector of the PCI card. I'm pretty sure (without checking) that the power connectors are the same for SCSI and IDE.
