Hey guys, Thanks for the help (again!). I must have been brain dead when I wrote my inquiry; I did, in fact, try the uninstall program on the Norton Anti-virus v. 9 CD, and it didn't do the trick, which left me in a lurch (the observation makes sense that it's not compatible with OS X 10.3). I had to reinstall the program off the CD in order to use the uninstaller from the Symantec site (otherwise the program saw nothing to uninstall, as I'd already manually dumped just about everything related to Symantec). But using the updated uninstaller did the trick -- the Auto-Protect preference panel is gone now from my System Preferences window, and I'm glad for that. I made sure I cleared the cache before rebooting, btw. Again, thanks. Anthony
