Max out the RAM. You running one 128 and one 256 stick? That is way  
too little ram for Tiger to want. Your computer can hold 4 x 512 for  
a total of 2 GB. Fill it UP with at least TWO 512 sticks through
http://ramseeker.com and omni it will only cost you $128 and you will  
realize amazing performance improvement.

Other fix is to swap out your DVR for a Pioneer DVR-110 for about $39  
online.
