[G4] Airport question

Due to a recent flood, I lost the transformer to my airport extreme 
(round). Apple does not sell transformers for this model any more and 
sold me the newest Airport Extreme unit. Now my eMac with an airport 
card cannot connect to the network because of password issues (not 
recognized). Is this an issue with the older airport card not being 
compatible with the new Airport Extreme?
Are there any solutions to this problem??
