So in one of my attempts to fix it myself I started deleting old files that were really big. I thought I was doing good until I went to open I-cal/Address book and they were not there anymore. I have all my old disks from my up grades, Tiger, Panther etc. I'm not sure what to do next. I have a copy of my cal/address book on my Sprint 6700 that I was syncing up everyday using Markspace software. >> >> SOS from a guy who is trying his best. >> Joe >> >> >> _______________________________________________ >> G4 mailing list >> G4 at listserver.themacintoshguy.com >> http://listserver.themacintoshguy.com/mailman/listinfo/g4 >> > > _______________________________________________ > G4 mailing list > G4 at listserver.themacintoshguy.com > http://listserver.themacintoshguy.com/mailman/listinfo/g4 > > It is not your memory that is full. I think you are speaking of your hard drive, probably your startup drive or volume. Generally the best way to rid yourself of this problem is to buy more or larger drives. They are so cheap these days. In Disk Utility, when you click on your firewire drive to select it, does the icon/text "Mount" or "Unmount" appear in the window header? Hopefully, "Mount" is what appears, and you should choose to mount the drive. As for stuff not working, ie, printer, OS9; and iCal and Address Book being gone; that may be a number of issues. You can try reinstalling your printer. Perhaps your OS9 system folder has been moved, or you need to rebless it by moving your system file out of and back into your system folder. If you did not delete files or folders associated with iCal or Address Book, they should still be somewhere. Have you searched for them? Never, never, never delete or otherwise mess around in your "System" folder. Hopefully, you have not done this. Likewise, do not delete files or folders you did not create. Use reputable utilities that are available for performing maintenance tasks that include cache cleaning and file cleaning routines. (I use MainMenu and Tinkertool System.) Even then, don't tinker with system files you don't fully understand or you may experience an unexpected consequence. -- Regards, Wayne Clodfelter <wayne at troutnc.com>
