[G4] Texteditor problem?

[Fast Primes]

For some reason Texteditor has quit working on my Mac G4/OSX system. Symptoms:

    -    Open file xyz
    -    make a few changes
    -    system message: The application Texteditor has unexpectedly quit! 
   
Restarted system and repeated above steps with same result.

Tried simply entering text and saving as new file. Again--same result.

Suggestions appreciated.
