Thanks for the suggestions Phil. I have been using the Mac booted in Safe Mode the last few days and it does seem to be working a lot better but still freezes when doing Finder operations like moving a window. If I grab a window frame and move it in a circle it does so in a staggered way as if the computer can't keep up with the information from the mouse then freezes. Does that make sense? If I only open my web browser (Camino) I can work for several hours with no problem. Interestingly enough, a few days ago I had a full day of work with Photoshop so I decided to avoid the hassle and boot into OS 9.2.1 and run PS from there. Machine actually seemed to run faster and had absolutely no freezes whatsoever. I was using a Macally extended keyboard up until about a month ago but have since changed to an Apple one. After the change the machine seemed to work better but then started in again with its old behavior. Mouse is the original one that came with the G4 (the puck). I do not have access to TechToolPro. I did some research into purchasing it and the version they sell now requires OS 10.4.9. How do people running older systems do file checking? I have only used Apple's Disk Utility to repair permissions. Thanks! Jill Lee-Jones -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
