New Imac Question

Thanks everyone for your speedy respones. The clock question I seem to have resolved. Now when I 
click on the time, I can see the day of the week and month day year in the menu. It is greyed out but 
at least visible. The OS 9 issue is a little more disturbing. If I load my pre X apps on a separate partition, 
will I be able to use them with no system folder on that partition?
