Freezes & glitches

I'm running a G4 with Panther.  Has anyone had a problem where the cursor / 
mouse movements are jerky and temporarily frozen?  This then sometimes leads 
to the whole thing freezing up and forcing a power-button-restart.

I'm not sure if this is a software (seems to happen when I'm running 
InDesign) or hardware thing and I'm not sure the best way to address it.

What are the best "fix-it" programs out there now.  DiskWarrior?
