I have a 400MHz G3 with 320 megs of RAM, running OS9.2.2. Normally the machine is on 24/7, and I use it mostly for the internet and e-mail. I've been doing a little graphic design work lately, and have shut down both Outlook Express and Internet Explorer while working with Photoshop and/or Quark, and have been experiencing freezes when shutting down IE. I first tried discarding the IE preference file. That didn't solve the problem. I downloaded and installed the latest version of IE for Mac 9.X (version 5.1.7). Still no improvement. And now when I launch IE I get a message that the preferences have been damaged, and are being reverted to the last saved version. Not a big deal, but a nuisance just the same. I probably need to uninstall something (I trashed the previous version of IE). There are duplicate files in three different Internet folders in my Applications. This not only takes up space but may be contributing to my freeze-on-shutdown problem. Any suggestions? Debbi
