copying MiniDV tapes

hi. thanks for everyone's help. turns out there are
two record buttons and i was pushing the camera rec
button (the one you use all the time) instead of the
VTR record button. Why these two exist, i have no
idea, but the tapes are copying perfectly now. Thanks,
