Moving files from iMovie to FCP

Hi,

I am sure this is a re-occuring question, and I wish there was a 
searchable archive of MacDV digest (is there?), but...

I want to be able to move video from my DV camera onto my hard drive 
using iMovie so I can take it to a friend to work in FCP. He told me 
you couldn't do that, but I could swear that I have seen that you can 
in previous DV digest answers.

Help!
