wide-angle lens advice for new Sony mini-dv?

Hi everyone -
I'm about to replace my aged Hi-8 with one of the new Sony mini-dv's.
As with every other camcorder I've owned, I know I'll want to attach 
a wide-angle lens (I hate having to back into an adjoining room to 
get a decent shot of the person in front of me; a wide-angle lens 
also smooths out all the moving hand-held stuff).
The Sony store here will happily sell me their wide-angle lens, the 
VCL-0630S, and I'll go ahead and get it... but I thought I'd ask here 
on the list, if people know of something better.  I want it to be as 
small as possible, because once I screw it on, I'll probably just 
leave it on (and I don't want to turn a nice small camera into a big 
hulking brute).
Any advice would be most appreciated!
