What version of imovie 2 instead of 3?

iMovie 2.1.2 is currently the best version because it fixed the 
corrupted thumbnails bug of 2.1.1.

iMovie 2.1.1 was bundled in 10.1, iMovie 2.1.2 is bundled in 10.2.

You can retrieve them by installing Mac OS X on a spare partition 
(you do have a 4-8G test partition for iMovie 3.x and other 
suspicious software, don't you?). Alternatively you may extract them 
from the installer CD with Pacifist.
