OK, Just in case someone's interested how this one turned out: To get DVD Player to work under OS X when you've bought an external DVD with a machine that would otherwise be capable of playing them (has enough horsepower / graphics card like for eg. the newer CD-ROM iMacs) you do this: 1) Dowload Pacifist from: http://www.charlessoft.com/Pacifist.dmg this thing will allow you to do *real* custom OS X installs. 2) Insert your OS X Install disk File -> Open -> CD/System/Installation/Packages/Essentials.pkg (or somthing like that) and there you'll find DVDPlayer.app - activate and install. 3) Then you go and download this thing: http://195.134.134.27/downloads/macdvd/DVD_Player_Patch_3.2.bin (this'll patch the freshly installed Apple DVD player to allow using of external players.) Run the .command and voila. Hoping this'll come in handy for someone, filipp >Hi >What do you do when you buy >an external DVD player/burner for your flat >panel iMac (with a CD-RW drive for eg) >and want to watch DVD's under OS X? > >Would reinstalling OS X (Jaguar) with the new >drive connected also install Apple DVD Player? > >Many thanks, >filipp > >---------- ><http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/MacDV.html>. >Send a message to <MacDV-DIGEST at themacintoshguy.com> to switch to >the digest version. > >XRouter | Share your DSL or cable modem between multiple computers! >Dr. Bott | Now $139.99 <http://www.drbott.com/prod/xrouter.html> > > Cyberian | Support this list when you buy at Outpost.com! > Outpost | http://www.themacintoshguy.com/outpost.shtml > >MacResQ Specials: LaCie SCSI CDR From $99!
