I use a 600MHz iBook for editing (even though I have a 1.5GHz Wintel I could use). Seems to work fine on the capture side, with no dropped frames, easy capturing, and easy exporting. The three warnings I'd issue are: 1) Disk space. An hour takes up about 13Gig, which can be tight if you get one with a 20Gig drive! Shouldn't be an issue with the newer ones. 2) When you're capturing, editing or exporting don't try to do anything else, the machine is quite busy enough. That includes screensavers (switch 'em off!) 3) Speed - Rendering transition is a little slow (maybe 15 seconds to a minute, depending on what you're doing). Exporting to QuickTime is an overnight job for an hour of video (literally!). Again, the newer models should help with this some, but it's still not going to be quick! For me the ease of use far outweighs these problems. Cheers, Paul ---- > > Hey all ... with the newest round of price drops on the > 12" Albook they are > > looking more and more attractive.
