PC Photo (magazine) has an article on this in the current issue. Factors are different sizes (some use 640 x 480; others use 320 x 240 or even less). Some output in .mov (Quicktime), others in .avi and even mpeg1 ( a Sony). The longest times recorded were 3 minutes. My Nikon 995 outputs Quicktime, but does not capture audio.
