I don't know if you'd be interested in this, but I just watched a Dave Cross video in which he creates a sketch effect in Photoshop. 1 Basically you duplicate the base layer and desaturate it. 2 Duplicate that and invert it 3 You now have a color layer on the bottom, grayscale in the middle, and a grayscale inverse that looks like a negative on top. 4 Change the blending mode on the top layer to color dodge (the image will be almost entirely white) 5 With that inverted layer still selected, try a motion blur and set the amount for the degree of fillin you want on the sketch. 6 Then he moved a copy of the color layer to the top and set a low opacity to slightly color the sketch.
