firewire video analog converter

Some of it is mini DV which is why I'm concerned.

Someone that I do business with does that on a regular basis.  He 
records to his Sony BetaCam via the Canopus ADVC-100, either from a G4 
or another camcorder.  Of course, it depends on the quality of the 
original footage... i.e., was it recorded on
miniDV, D8, Hi8, VHS, SVHS, etc.
