Encoding Assets

Hi ya'all.
My Asset Encoding dialogue box never quits. I've got all latest 
upgrades. The movie Previews in iDVD fine. When I Burn, iDVD gets to 
the Asset Encoding and the activity bar keeps in motion for ever. I 
have a short movie of 8 minutes and have many times more disc space 
than required. I've let it go for an hour. Then I cancelled.
The DVD-R disc shows to be empty and is, of course, not rejected.

Any ideas?
