iDVD or FCE?

Here's my problem:

I've edited a 1hr5min piece in Final Cut Express 2, it plays fine. I 
save it as QT reference movie, include sound, chapter markers. Dump it 
into iDVD 4. Render, render, render. Ding: your disk is done.

But when I play the disk, one spot the audio drops out completely. It's 
at an edit point in the FCE movie and comes back once that edit is over.

Huh?

I tried lowering the volume of the offending audio portion: no change.
