That recommendation has been discussed here before. Some say that this was the case for miniDV early on, but now the tapes are so standardized that it may no longer be a problem. In fact, some have stated that all the different brands of miniDV come from just a couple of manufacturers now. Personally, I've had no reason to switch tape brands. Since I've been shooting miniDV, I've been using TDK tapes purchased at Costco. I've never had one fail on me (but I'm not a heavy user). --Gordon On 12/22/05, Freeman, Colt <cfreeman at liberty.edu> wrote: > My uncle's been in the commercial industry for over 20yrs and I've allways been told to never switch brands of tape for fear that the different lubes the tapes use may mix and run afoul, causing things to stick and such... > My 2 cents > > > -----Original Message----- > From: macdv-bounces at listserver.themacintoshguy.com on behalf of DBAFeldman at aol.com > Sent: Wed 12/21/2005 10:11 PM > To: macdv at listserver.themacintoshguy.com > Subject: Re: [MacDV] DV tape > > The only tapes I have ever had a problem with were JVC.
