[MacDV] Video Mixer

I'm getting ready to purchase a video mixer and I wanted to know if 
anyone is using the
"Datavideo SE 800".  It's been hard to find reviews on the net. My goal 
is to do IMag and Video
Capture live on location. I'll burn to S-VHS at first and then look into 
either a DV deck or DVD burner.
I have been interested in using the Firewire interface but I am a little 
concerned about the stability
of the connection itself. Seems to me that Firewire connections are a 
tad fragile and BNC is the way to go.
Any thoughts...
