The 4GB limit seems to suggest the file is copied using a network protocol
like AppleShare for some reason.
IOW something makes the system think the copy is not a local copy.
Utilities exist that can cut a file into smaller pieces and reassemble
them.
I actually write one (JES CopyLargeFile, to be found on
VersionTracker.com). This is a two-step procedure, just a little less
convenient than using ftp.
