This is the first time i've chimed in on this group, but i had the 
same problem with QT7 and FCPHD (I believe i have version 5).

None of my FCPHD projects would open after installing QT7. Even after 
downgrading to QT6 again, i could get the projects to open, but any 
audio track with an EQ adjustment wouldn't play without an error. If 
you get to this point you can just simply delete any EQ adjustments 
and reinsert them again and the tracks should work. In my case, this 
wasn't an option as i had - literally - hundreds, if not thousands, 
of EQs applied to my hundreds of tracks.

My solution was to wipe my main drive completely clean and reinstall 
from my original disk and allow software update to update everything 
EXCEPT QuickTime. I have only allowed updates to QuickTime up to, but 
not including, QT 7 and everything has been humming along beautifully.

I'm running a dual 2G G5, OS 10.3.9.
