[MPA] Request for recommendations

stores were not nearly as helpful
as you two.)

OK -- So I get a Mackie (which
I've used before) and a good 
mid-price Shure condenser.

I set it all up (with stand,
good cables, etc.) and plug the 
mixer into the G-4. (line in).

Since my older version of Final
Cut Pro (1.2) doesn't seem to have
any modules to handle recording
from the mixer (and I don't know if
newer verions do either) what app. should
I get to make the digital files?

I like the price of Coaster 1.1.3 
(FREE!) but will it handle this
setup?

PS -- I made a digital file in
iMovie, (using the built-in mic.
om my wife's imac) but the Mac OS  
doesn't tell me what kind if file it is.
(other than "iMovie document").

This file can be imported into my
FCP, so maybe that means I could
use iMovie to make digital files
using the mic./preamp setup?
