One other note - transcription accuracy depends heavily on training 
the voice model of the person whose voice is being transcribed and 
having similar microphone and acoustic conditions during the 
recording. the conditions you describe sound like they would not 
produce very good results, even if you could use the Sony recorder.

The Holy Grail of voice recognition of transcribing any digitized 
voice recorded under widely varying conditions is still a long way 
off.
