Thanks to Robert for his perspectives on this.

One way to make the decision between ViaVoice and iListen 
would be to buy them both, and  use each for it's strengths.

Is anyone aware of any obstacles to installing and using 
both programs on one machine?

I am only guessing here, but my guess would be that iListen would
be much better at transcribing a voice it has been trained to 
hear, than it would be transcribing a voice it has never heard before.
Again, just a guess, I have no experience with the program or 
this feature.

I'm going to start with iListen.   Invisible customer support
and a tendency to break are hurdles to a purchase of ViaVoice,
for me at least.
