A hinge repair can start at $600; an LCD replacement can start at $1200. I am not trying to make the point that the Ti is a fragile machine. I am simply pointing out that it is worthwhile to have insurance on it...home owners, extra computer insurance, AppleCare whatever you think is best for you. I travel with my Ti and use it quite a bit. If I never moved it from a desk and if no one else ever got near it, drank coffe near it, tripped over a power cord, or decided to go to sleep on it because it was a nice heated surface (house cat) I would STILL have AppleCare just so I could call Apple and ask for help whenever I needed it. And it's not so much that it's fragile as that it is a high dollar item that seems to say "steal me" when people see it. That, and I'm clumsy. And the cat does like to sleep on it. Insurance...a good thing. Paula
